Our Client, an established, local and respected organization, is currently seeking a Finance Manager for their corporate head office in Halifax. This permanent position offers variety, challenge and the opportunity to work within a strong, team-oriented work environment. Reporting to the Controller, key responsibilities and skills requirements are as follows:

Key responsibilities:

  • Month end and year end close procedures
  • Financial statement preparation
  • Oversee and support accounting assistants with AR, AP approvals, bank reconciliations and accounting systems trouble shooting
  • Review and record daily revenue for each location
  • Intercompany reconciliations
  • Verify and reconcile accounts receivable
  • Journal entries
  • General ledger posting review
  • Cash control oversight
  • Record pre-paids and reconcile clearing accounts on a monthly basis
  • HST remittances and filing
  • Work closely with Controller and Auditors during annual audit process
  • Assist with annual inventory count and valuation
  • Other management support as required

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Finance supervisory role including AP, AR, payroll and GL
  • Post-secondary education focused in accounting at the college or university level
  • Working towards a CPA Designation considered an asset
  • Prior experience with cash management, intercompany billings, inventory management and customer-focused industry exposure considered assets
  • Superior attention to detail and high accuracy
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills within a professional office setting
  • Above average organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to thrive in a highly dynamic work environment
  • Sage 300/Accpac experience a strong asset
  • Excel proficiency required
