Corporate Accountant

On behalf of our client, Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, we are currently seeking a Corporate Accountant for a permanent opportunity located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. NSGC is a Crown corporation dedicated to offering trusted and entertaining  gaming experiences with 100% of the profits going towards government programs and good causes, important to Nova Scotians.

Reporting to the Director, Finance, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting and finance duties as part of a close-knit and collaborative finance team. Key responsibilities:

  • Monthly financial reporting
  • Financial statement preparation
  • General ledger and bank account reconciliations
  • Support financial assessment of major business initiative and other financial analysis
  • Assist with financial forecasts and business plans
  • Budget review, analysis and results tracking
  • Perform quality assurance reviews on financial documents
  • Develop and monitor the management expense budget and forecasts
  • Internal control review, monitoring and recommendations
  • Accounts payable review and support to the clerk
  • Coordinate network maintenance with service providers
  • Working paper preparation and year-end audit support
  • Proactively seek opportunities to implement new ideas and approaches
  • Ad hoc accounting and finance projects


  • Undergraduate degree in business
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation completed or in progress is an asset
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Full cycle accounting using computerized accounting system
  • Experience performing financial, economic, and statistical analysis
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to set priorities and manage time effectively
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and accounting software
  • Uses creative, technological and innovative ideas to achieve improvements in tasks
