Accounting and Payroll Specialist

Our client, an innovative, development and manufacturing privately held medical device company is currently seeking an Accounting and Payroll Specialist for a permanent opportunity at their Dartmouth location. The successful candidate has strong payroll and accounting experience, exceptional attention to detail and is looking for career within a great team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • All payroll related duties, including collecting timesheet data and payroll information
  • maintaining accurate and confidential payroll records
  • Perform account balance and payroll reconciliations
  • Process both Canada and US payroll
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for payroll and accounting
  • Calculate GST and tax remittance, calculate employee commissions
  • Process and post accounts receivable payments
  • Process employee expense claims
  • Visa and bank reconciliations
  • Monitor and enforce internal controls to protect company assets
  • Support the team with budget inquiries, assist in preparing budgets and forecasts
  • Other duties as assigned

Key Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting
  • 3-5 years of previous experience in accounting and payroll
  • Holding or working toward a designation in Canadian Payroll (PCP)
  • Strong knowledge of various financial processes
  • Knowledge of payroll best practices, tax systems, banking systems, and accounting terms, principles, and processes
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities
