Accounts Payable / Payroll Clerk

Our client, a public sector employer, is seeking experienced an Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk for their Halifax office on a contract basis. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will primarily be responsible for assisting with processing accounts payable and/or payroll within a busy, deadline driven work environment.

Specific day to day AP duties:

  • Receive, verify, code, and input invoices for goods and services
  • Perform various reconciliations
  • Respond to vendor inquiries

Payroll functions:

  • Verify payroll hours, deductions, coding, and approvals
  • High volume entry of payroll information for biweekly payment
  • Liaise with Ceridian payroll services
  • ROE preparation
  • Maintaining a filing system for all financial documents and ensuring confidentiality and security

Requirements:

  • Completed post-secondary accounting program and/or a CPA payroll certificate
  • Minimum 2 years’ hands on experience
  • Solid knowledge of accounts payable and/or payroll functions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word)
  • Prior experience using SAP software or Ceridian Insync software would be considered assets

Flexibility is desired as there may be some evening and weekend work involved.
